ADVANCED SHOOTERS COURSE (8 Hours) – LAW ENFORCEMENT ONLY

Note: Given the nature of this course, it is conducted by contracted instructors with extensive military SOF backgrounds only. This course is only open to ACTIVE Law Enforcement officers. Your credentials WILL be verified prior to enrolling in this course.

 

I. GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION:

Shooting will include work with the M4 .556 and pistol.

A. Course Description: As previously stated this course is only open to active or retired Military and Law Enforcement. The sole purpose of this course is to provide or enhance skills that may or may not have been previously provided within their organization.

B. Course Goals/Objectives: The goals/objectives of this course are:

  1. Designed to help the student enhance their skills and speed all while operating under stress.
  2. During this course students will perform the following tasks
  3. Clearing stoppages (standard range style vs combat style)
  4. Clearing stoppages combat style with dummy and live rounds
  5. Multi phase exercises clearing stoppages with staggered dummy rounds
  6. Isosceles position/standard and modified
  7. Lateral movements while shooting
  8. Retention techniques/close attack/room clearing
  9. Breaking tunnel vision/sweeping right and left and returning to primary
  10. Barrier work/3 position vertical,low and cover
  11. Barrier work/assess fire/standing,kneeling behind barriers
  12. Strong side and weak side exercises
  13. One handed reverse movement shot
  14. One handed cross draw
  15. Touch and shoot
  16. Developing Natural point of aim
  17. Point of aim memory
  18. Vertical Point of aim memory
  19. Vertical with lateral movement memory
  20. No / Clear Exercise for Clean Shot Assessment
  21. Creating a Clean Shot
  22. Clear Left / Clear Right
  23. Touch and Shoot
  24. Turn and Shoot
  25. Slicing the Pie vs IDPA El Presidente techniques
  26. Point shoulder double tap/two hand
  27. Strong and weak side point shoulder

C. Course Competencies: Upon successful completion of this course, each student will have demonstrated through a competent understanding the above methods with highlighted focus on;

  1. Safe and effective methods for shooting and moving with team members
  2. Shooing while on the move with and without cover
  3. Shot placement and creating a clear shot
  4. Shooting from vehicles
  5. Transition and emergency reloads

D. Completion of this course requires an exit exam with a minimum passing grade of 85%

E. Special Requirements-Students should adhere to safety standards established in the beginning of this course. Students must follow all safety rules on the firing range and other laboratory work areas.
